Job, or career? Temporary, or permanent? Nurse, or Builder? The choices are endless. Maybe you always knew what you wanted to be ‘when you grew up’. In my case, I went to a good school, but when it came time to leave, I had NO idea what I wanted to do, so I blindly applied for jobs in many different areas of employment, got my first interview and was offered the job and said, yes. I thought I could find another one if I didn’t like it, but I stayed there 24 years! In today’s world it is more important than ever to find a job that will suit you (no point in not enjoying what you do!) AND that will be there to give you a good income, good benefits, etc. It’s an uncertain world in which we live, and a good income is important. Our site allows you to search for jobs, (see below, or at the side) and gives you advice from videos of job interview techniques, reviews of jobs or careers, and tips on how to GET a job, or enter your chosen career.

Hello, everybody, I am back to help you build a career you like. Today we’ll speak about 10 steps to win any job interview when you’re altering careers. I know how tough that is, I get this query essentially every week. Lots of questions on my YouTube channel and my weblog. Once I get into that interview, how do I virtually compete in opposition to other job seekers who’ve the capabilities the company is watching for? I know that is complicated. Career altering most commonly is difficult, which is why I speak about it a lot. To provide us a strolling , and i have talked about this earlier than in some earlier movies that I’ve created. One, was once learn how to alternate careers effectively, the first seven steps. I’ve also pointed out this in one of my are living place of business hours. We spent quite a lot of time going over the steps that you must take to make a effective career alternate. But shall we say you get began in the correct path. Shall we embrace that you can control what that you would be able to control, you do the study, you discover a profession you love.

You start following mentors, you go by means of the entire steps, you get your resume so as, and also you honestly get an interview. How do you win it? Well, let’s talk about these 10 matters you are able to do. Let’s just , numbers one and two are surely whatever that you can do before … Or you want to do before you get into the interview. The very first thing is, you want to be certain, as much as that you can, that the route you’re taking to get the interview is favorable. Through that I imply, you are going to have predicament if you’re striking your resume into the applicant tracking programs. Employers should not going to take realize of your resume that doesn’t have the correct standards or tough expertise that they are looking for, so you are going to lost out that means, so you’re going to have to lean heavily to your community. For those who’ve accomplished this competently and you’ve got gotten a referral into the interview, that’s surely going to help.

It’s now not the only option to get an interview, however it’ll help when you deliberate your route effectively and also you spent quite a lot of time networking to get yourself into that interview. So that’s the primary key, for the reason that that’ll provide you with just a little wind at your back if you’re an worker referral. Or you’ve gotten some form of reference into that company. The 2nd thing, is you have got to make sure you’ve got accomplished your homework to establish the capabilities which can be particularly essential for that targeted role so that you would be able to start planning your responses whilst you certainly get asked questions. We have now talked at length about this in one of the most prior movies. But capabilities are the key to you making that victorious pivot. With the aid of capabilities, what I mean is the foundational characteristics that make a just right worker at that precise function.

An effortless instance is a salesperson. Definite, Salespeople ought to comprehend tips on how to promote their unique product and repair. However all Salespeople are ordinarily just right communicators. They comprehend the best way to hear, they’ve excellent psychology talents, they fully grasp how you can learn humans and human ache aspects. They understand how you can join the dots of their storytelling. They also know how to provide an explanation for how their services or products solves the individual or organizations hindrance. These are foundational capabilities that make all excellent Salespeople good. You must do some homework and make sure that you realize what those are and that you are ready to map your responses to the most customary job interview questions in order that you are highlighting how you’ve those capabilities seeing that you effortlessly wouldn’t have the experience or the skills. Number three, is when you get into the interview, you have got to be very explicit.

I call it kind of mapping what you did and the way it applies to this new position. However you have got to make certain that the agency can honestly hear you join the dots of how what you may have accomplished to your earlier has all set you with the capabilities which can be required to be positive in that function. So for the period of the interview, you have to be express. You must explain within the interview precisely how what you did maps and has aid you build these advantage so as to make you successful on this new role.

All correct, quantity 4. Number four is, you’re skilled. You’re doubtless experienced. If you’re making a career alternate, you may have obtained years below your belt. You need to spotlight how you may have designated value you could draw on out of your detailed career, something that’s. So if you happen to’ve obtained 10 years of experience and you’re going for a role that requires 5 years of expertise that you don’t have but there are different younger job seekers who’re going for that role, there are undoubtedly specific experiences that you can draw on. The worth you can carry that you have gained from different things that you have done during your profession. You want to make sure that these are on your record of matters to deliver up for the duration of the interview. So quantity 4, is be certain you’re highlighting your particular price and what you’ve got that the opposite job candidates do not have. Quantity 5, it is rather primary that you provide an explanation for your outlook or your why you want to alter careers.

Employers need to be special that if you’re making a profession change, that you’ve completely inspiration it through and you have sound reasoning for why you wish to have to do that. In case your motives are form of flimsy, they’re going to be worried they usually they’re no longer going to wish to hire you. So be certain that you’re inclined to share your outlook. Be overt about it, for this reason I’m eager to vary careers to do that style of function or move to this kind of enterprise. It can be gotta be clear, it can be gotta make sense, and your reason needs to be sound. Quantity six, use your eagerness, to get that new position, to your competencies. Let your enthusiasm exhibit. Be more excited than the other candidates, want it extra. I would alternatively rent anyone who wanted it extra and was willing to work further difficult than someone who had probably the most talents, however wasn’t willing to place forth that effort. That’s a huge, large deal. You wish to have to make certain that you use your eagerness to your potential, not to your detriment.

Quantity seven, convey in anything collateral you had. I’ve talked in different movies about commencing your new brand, writing articles, posting, research that you have finished, education that you have taken. Carry in anything you have got. It might be something which you can pull out to exhibit effort, to exhibit that you’re committed, to show that you’ve got invested time. None of on the way to hurt you and there seemingly will come an possibility throughout the interview so that you can say, “hello, , I’ve invested a variety of time in this.” probably, while you are sharing your outlook and your why, it is that through my research I’ve found out i am really going to enjoy this.

I am enthusiastic about what i am studying, and what I’ve written about, and what I’ve shared with others, and what they’ve shared with me. That’s a quality little prop you could convey in, as well. Quantity eight, remain open to getting your foot in the door. In the event you ought to take a pay reduce, it possibly valued at it. For those who need to move down a notch or two, it maybe worth it. So, in blend with your eagerness, you want to allow them to be aware of that i’m inclined to do anything it takes with the intention to relaxed a job together with your corporation in this function, in this position. So i’m enthusiastic, but i am additionally inclined to do it and i’m joyful to tackle whatever you consider is fundamental. Regardless of how much of an apprentice it makes me or how much grunt work I have to do, i’m open to some thing it takes to get my foot within the door. That is some thing that I really want. Quantity nine is tremendously vital. The extra that you could shift their center of attention to the future and envision your self within the position, the better off you’ll be.

So, one of the crucial greatest approaches that you can do, or questions that you can ask, to get instances. Actual existence occasions of what it will be find irresistible to do that role is when you’re in the interview, you need to look for possibilities to assert, this is what I did in my historical past. As they are evaluating your background, you want to make sure you’re connecting the dots like we talked about previous. Announcing, based on what I did previously, here’s how I developed these capabilities. Here is how they map to what it is that you’d want me to do. But the more which you could get the interviewer to focal point on the future by using providing simulations of what it is going to be wish to work in that role, the you can be. Oftentimes, you would ought to ask the interviewer to ask you the questions. So you’re going to ask the interviewer to actually put you within the main issue, to inform a story about how you can handle anything at some point. So, hiya Mr. Interviewer, i might love to fully grasp the certain hindrance that i will ought to interact after I’m right here.

Might you describe that for me so i will show you ways i might manage that. The interviewer goes to be more than happy to do that because he or she must need you to walk them by way of the state of affairs so that they can get a better evaluation. The more that you could get them thinking about the long run, the greater the likelihood that they are able to suppose you within the role. As they hear you talk via how you can do it, they’d to believe extra secure that you would do it in their environment. Once I speak to Senior Executives, I continually say, “You must spend less time to your past and extra time getting the employer to examine the future and what it will be prefer to have you working there.” this is a exceptional way for profession changers to get the interviewer’s mindset off the evaluation of their earlier and pondering more about the future and the way you’ll in reality slot in.

Very, very primary method. That one by myself might win you the complete interview. Quantity ten, you want to make certain more than anything, that you join with the interviewer and you get the interviewer to care about you. You as a character. Care extra about you as a person and trying to hire you, than they do in regards to the abilities that someone wants for the function. The extra which you could make that connection and the more they feel you care about them, your willingness to work rough, and the more that they care about you, the larger the likelihood that they’re going to need to hire you. If you wish to understand more about bundle all these stories up and the way to get the interviewer to care about you, I’ve acquired a great webinar called, Three Keys to Ace Any Job Interview, that takes you by way of all of this. It can be a exotic approach for you to gain knowledge of how one can tell your studies, give your responses to the most customary interview questions. But additionally, how one can make yourself likable, memorable, and get the organization to care about hiring you.

These are my ten steps, in case you like them, give me the thumbs up. Ensure to share this if you are looking at this at any place as opposed to my hints for Work and existence blog or my YouTube channel, jump over to these web sites, I’ve obtained plenty of free giveaways, and downloads, and different video series and webinars. Hey guys I hope all of you are doing well and having a good time or and today I am here to share my job search story in CANADA Because I really want to share a lot of things including When my job hunt started and to the point when I actually got the job So as soon as I came to know that we people are being laid off – as I shared with you people that I luckily got some time there was a buffer time where organisation made us aware that they are not gonna renew your contracts so in that period I immediately started applying for job I started getting in touch with people using Facebook groups like Indians in Toronto and I was able to get one or two references as well One of those referred me to a job and I got a interview call.

I gave interview but I didn’t get selected because they were looking to hire a contractor employee and may be I asked a question that Can I apply for some other position when I am inside the company so they got an impression that You know, I am just joining the bank because I want to get into something else (some other position) So sometimes you have to be very much aware of what you are asking in that interview because if you ask questions in the interview then also you have to be very careful and if you don’t ask any questions in the interview then also it is counted as a negative aspect Okay after that I gave one more interview that was a Big 4 Organisation, and there the major Hurdle was that the person who interviewed me. She told me that you don’t have enough Canadian experience I agree with you people. you guys might be thinking that you will only get Canadian experience once you start working here in Canada right? But here are some companies/Organisation who are very particular about this that you should have at least One year of Canadian experience and then only they will give you opportunity and after that again I gave one more interview in another Big 4 and there the female who interviewed me was nice, but maybe the job requirements were like Not up to what I was expecting or what they were expecting out of me then that interview also Didn’t go well then one evening me and Gundeep were at Sugar Beach, Toronto and that day I had one interview which didn’t go well and I was very depressed I was like am I doing something wrong? And if I am doing something wrong? Where? and why? Gundeep you know motivated me and he supported me throughout He said maybe you deserve something well or something better than this, so don’t loose hope and keep on going rest I was getting EI as well, so we were not that much worried but there was a point that I was tired of giving interviews event there is one more bank called big five bank and I gave that interview as well Imagine it after that much years of experience Those people didn’t select me because maybe I was you know Overqualified for the that job may this was a constraint for some positions I applied.

So if you are overqualified then also you may get rejected, because employer thinks that you will do job for sometime You will have a buffer period you look for something else and you will move on so they are Very picky in all these things which makes sense. I’ll say that was a miracle and I do believe in miracles So miracle was that I got a call from a provincial government organization and and I have no idea when I applied to that job. I got a call from HR and he told me that okay Your application has been selected and we are going to interview You on so and so day so you just send an email Which day you want to get interviewed on they sent me time slots this and dates I just replied to the email and after that my interview got scheduled.

Search here for jobs. Enter your chosen career and where you want to work.

And the first round was HR round they asked very basic stuff and there were quite tricky questions as well so I would like to share one of the question which was very basic The HR asked me that how much salary do you expect? So I told him that the salary here that should be as per the industry standards, but he was not satisfied He said I want a number So I told him honestly that I was a contractor in my first job in Canada So, I don’t know much about how the full-time job works so I said that I have seen on Glassdoor the salary range for My profile is this to this and then he was like impressed He just said, okay So I added one more thing that I’m not looking to get hired to become rich I am looking for a job in order to learn and grow within the organization and that person was pretty impressed with me after two days, I got an email that you have been qualified for the second round and Then I had an interview with the senior manager and the manager and then the interview was one hour long and the senior managers, came to see me off outside the office after interview and I knew that I have nailed the interview There was one more round of interview.

Struggle was not yet over because the Director of company had to interview me so after two days I got an email which said that you have been moved to the third round which will be with the director and finally I first, you know I was very very desperate if you will say or I was very very nervous as well because I really Wanted that job. It was not because it was a government job. I was just fed up of giving interviews and also I wanted to come out of that cycle where you have to face same questions again and again, And I was really tired of doing that so finally the interview with Director So that was a very casual interview He told me about his organisation, the best thing which I faced was he asked me What do you watch on TV? And I told him that I watched SUITS and Coincidentally, it was his favorite show and the character from the show was his favorite as well you know, there was a tuning and we just kept on chit-chatting that went for half an hour and finally that interview went Amazing and I had a vibe that okay.

I’m gonna get it Yes, so they made me wait a little bit longer. It was a week since I heard from them So it happens that when you don’t get to hear from HR for a week Then it’s better to drop an email to them in order to know what’s going on whether you have been selected or you have not been selected. So this what I did. And when I mailed HR and there was no reply on that day so I was like, oh man, this is this is gone. Now I might have to give more interviews!! But next day, I got an email from their HR saying that they have not reached to any decision So as soon as they do it, I will receive an email and I think that was the very next day I got a call from the senior manager personally saying that you have been selected for the post of senior compliance specialist and The salary is blah blah, and I was like wow means I got interviewed For the position of analyst but they were so pretty impressed with me that they selected me for The senior post.

Yes guys. Here it happens like this as well If you are capable enough and if they like you . So definitely they will offer you a different/better position and This is not a miracle This all depends on you and your experience. So that was the best day of my life after two months I will say like there are other best days as well there some other best days as well like when I landed here in Canada But this was like after two months and I was pretty happy about it. But okay, I Didn’t expect this much salary. I didn’t expect this position, but it came to me so the moral of the story is you are not supposed to lose hope and you need to stay positive and Finally the thing which you deserve will come to you on its own so guys this is it from my side. This was my story. and I am still excited to work there because there are lot of things to learn because this is a totally different industry and I Hope you could get opportunities like these as well Canada is a beautiful country and it has beautiful people and beautiful Organizations which are very professional and.

You will tend to learn a lot of things so be excited stay positive and I will see you in the next video so if you have any questions or queries or concerns, you can leave it in the comment box and I hope you enjoy the video. Please like share and subscribe Bye. Bye.

hi guys welcome back to my channel this
is Chandra from Calgary Canada in this video we
will see how to get a job specifically for people who are just immigrating or
planning to immigrate and thanks for visiting my channel again. Before we
start seeing these techniques one by one if you have not subscribed to my channel
please do subscribe and hit the bell button and feel free to ask any
questions regarding immigration or job search in the comments I will respond to
you as fast as I can.

Thank you very much also watch my other video which talks
about best cities to Immigrate. The first one has if you are working in a
multinational company, try an internal transfer so basically say for example if
you are working in a company like TCS IBM , Accenture some kind of an IT or a
multinational company they must be having an office in Canada for sure.
So try talking to your manager or higher ups to see if they can transfer you to
the Canadian office.

So if you already have your PR this might be the easiest
way to settle get settled in Canada with a job offer.
Although the salary sometimes might not be on par with the Canadian standards
you start getting your Canadian experience right away, so don’t hesitate
to ask your manager or higher-ups about this option, so sometimes you might get
it easily or sometimes and in other cases are you might not ..but better to
ask than not to ask. The next technique is to get a local number. It can be
either virtual or you can also get a fixed local number such as magicJack. I
always used magicJack. If you google search you would be able to get
a virtual local number online. Another thing I would recommend is getting a
Canadian local address. You can get it either from your friends, relatives so that
you can put that in your resume. This will also help you get your job
interview faster.

Another important step or requirement is to change your resume
format to the Canadian style. This includes both a resume and the
cover letter so different countries have different formats or requirements in
their job application process but employees here in Canada are specific
about a style or format of the resume that they require. So within the Canadian
style of format you never list your salary, picture or any family information
or any any kind of a personal details so what I have done is I’ll be providing
you the link towards the end of this video where you can download the
Canadian style format resume template and current letter for your use.
so feel free to use that and good luck.

Another thing which is very important is
don’t use the same resume for all the job applications make sure you customize
your or you customize your resume to for each and every job matching the
requirements so basically the key words in the job requirements should be in the
resume as well so that your resume is picked up by the automatic tracking
system other important step or I would rather to say technique or process is
for you to have a professional refined LinkedIn account so what you do is if
you don’t have a LinkedIn account make a little create a LinkedIn account
update the LinkedIn account to make sure whatever matters in your resume matches
in the LinkedIn account update with all the skills or professional experience
all the projects that you did so update that in the LinkedIn account make sure
you change your address or the location on the LinkedIn profile to Canadian one
because recruiters looking for candidates on LinkedIn favor local
candidates as well than people who are overseas so make sure in the location in
within your LinkedIn account has been changed to the Canadian location so that
you would get calls from the recruiters also make sure your LinkedIn account has
no grammar or careless mistakes because recruiters would want to see a
professional level of communication before they can consider you for a job
make sure you can get some endorsements or recommendations from your past
colleagues or managers about your work so that it will be it will reflect what
you have done so far in your career so these are the steps that you need to do
before that you can do before you come to Canada with regards to your job
search er so within LinkedIn there are job postings that you can apply for so
after doing all these steps you can start searching for the jobs in various
job search sites usually a one I used to do this I used in game dot CA so what
indie does is it gets the jobs from various sites including monster or any
other job sites and then mash it up and then give you the search results so you
don’t have to go to each and every year job search sites so indeed dot CA is the
best for searching the jobs it also collects the job requirements from the
individual employers websites so so that you can start applying in their websites
as well so you’ll play for the jobs and then wait for the interview calls if you
have done all these steps before you definitely get a few interview calls
since you are local you have a local number and a yoga on the local address
so definitely you will get calls from the recruiters in New York you can also
get you would also be getting messages within your LinkedIn account with the
job requirements or job details from the recruiters if you’re interested another
important thing that you should be doing is registering for free pre-arrival
Grauman programs so government funds lots of organization for these helping
immigrants so pre-arrival services can help you to prepare you for move to
Canada get your education work experience and credentials recognised in
Canada and connect with employers to find you a job
so these are all free services and I have provided the links for all these
free pre-arrival services down in the descriptions description below and
towards the end of the video as well so feel free to browse through those and
this is very very important it will definitely help you out
the comment offers free programs to help you find work faster so you can register
online for pre-arrival employment services like JVs can’t prep program or
next stop Canada before you get here so basically what they do is they connect
skilled newcomer professionals from all around the world to an employment
specialist who will be supporting them in navigating the Canadian job market so
don’t forget this important step so makes
sure you register for all these free pre-arrival steps I have to come to
Canada the first thing you need to do is you have to go to your local immigrant
immigrant serving organizations there there are lots of organizations in each
city and what they do is they basically help you look for a job in case if you
need more language help they get you a language assessment and then they
register you register you for a free language classes help you find a place
to live in so there are lots of things that they help you with the initial
settlement so first find out what is local immigrant serving organizations
you can find that in the IE RCC site I can I’ll provide you the link for that
as well in the description so first thing you have to do is register with
them and then they will guide you with all the necessary settlement steps so
when you register with them they will be helping you they will tie you with a
mentor or somebody would be helping you in your job search they will help you
help you with the resume for my cover letter and then they will make sure they
connect you with some employers so these are the things that they would be
helping you with so make sure you are registered with them and then the next
one is you go to your local library your community library which is close to your
place or where you live there are lots of free information free classes free
courses and they also help you with searching the job so go to your local
library and talk to your librarian there is a lot of free information and they
will city up with the library account library account in most of the cities in
Canada is free so you will be having access to books classes and there are
lots of events in the library you will if you don’t have a computer you will go
go to your library local library and you can search for jobs there and then there
are lots of digital content so this will be able to this will help your Lord for
you to pick up job related skills as well there are lots of free courses as
well which your library provides there are lots of books so make sure you
utilize those resources effectively so as I mentioned before you would be able
to get a mentor or type you can tie up with a mentor with your local with the
help of your local immigrant serving organizations and there are also many
Canadian professionals and business people who could free advice and
coaching to newcomers settling in in Canada so you can find someone to mentor
you through some of the organizations like immigrant services associations of
Nova Scotia it’s called I sans Calgary regional immigrant employment Council
see our IEC so I will give you all these information in the description as well
so for example in Toronto that is gone something called Toronto region
immigrant employment Council so these are the various organizations that will
tie you tie up with mentors then these mentors might be very high highly placed
in their own companies so it’s a chance for you to network with people in your
fields so another important step or the process that you should do while before
even start your job search is get your credentials assessed in Canada as well
so you did it for the PR but you have to do it again I have to come here for
certain professions for example engineers doctors nurses architects so
there are our trades like electrician fitters welders etc so these professions
need to be assessed so basically there are two types of jobs in Canada owners
resonated jobs and the other one is called non-regulated jobs regulated jobs
are controlled by provincial territorial and sometimes federal laws so they are
governed by a regulatory body or apprenticeship Authority
so they include jobs such as architects plumbers engineers so these jobs are
regulated to protect public health and safety make sure people working in these
jobs are very well qualified so about 20 percent of the jobs in Canada are
regulated so in order for you in order to work in a regulated job in Canada
what you have to do is you have to have a license or a certificate or be
registered with the regulatory body for your job in the province or territory
where you want to work so there are certain steps that you need to do before
you get the license or get certified from those regulatory bodies here it’s
regulated job has its own requirements for getting a license or a certificate
so basically requirements for entry can be are different between provinces and
territories but they usually include having your training and skills assessed
again the jobs standards this is either done by combining your training with
your training provided by the Canadian colleges and universities or you need to
show your original transcripts academic transcripts or revenue stickers
descriptions and sometimes there are written exams or an interview as well so
this is quite important step for you to work in your field apart from that you
have to do a lot of networking so this can be done by various networking events
there are lots of events that are free that takes place in every city for
example use of forums for example in IT and there are various domains so each
and every domain will have hold events probably for example in Microsoft event
will be free user Forex would be free so we can go to those events interact with
various people around there and then talk to people then tell them that you
are looking for job or just talk to people and kind of try to get there like
a professional help from them and then give your contact details as well so
these things will definitely help you get your job faster when networking is
really really important for you to get the jobs as well in certain cases you
might need to look for bridging programs related to job so in if you want to work
in the field of your job or say for example HR or payroll the laws are quite
different from where you came from to one in Canada so bridging programs
basically help internationally trained professionals and trades people want to
work in the field in what in their field in Canada so the it basically includes
courses education and skill assessments practical or workplace experience they
provide a practical or workplace experience and then they train you for
the the credential exams example for licenses or certificates so these are
bridging programs need to be done before you start your job search or if you want
to work in your own field so basically for information regarding that you can
go to your immigrant services organisation or local universities they
should be having University continuing education programs basically they are
the bridging programs you can talk to the university counselors for we are the
bridging programs that you want and enroll into specific programs so for
example Canadian Payroll Association is provides bridging programs for payroll
administrator and then HR associations CPA chart will
be able to provide bridging programs for HR professionals last but not the least
is trying to get some quality and working opportunities with regards to
your field so talk with your mentor whom you are working with and trying to get
his help and getting some volunteer opportunities or go to your library or a
migrant serving organization and try to get some valuable volunteer work this
will help you gain some Canadian experience and then you can understand
the work culture and then practice your technical skills and communication
skills it’s a very good opportunity to get some Canadian references as well
these are things that I thought I should be sharing with you all are to help you
with the job search thank you very much for watching and good luck to everyone

When you imagine the “job of the future?” what comes to mind? Probably something like this. Or maybe this. These are the jobs expected to grow the most over the next decade. And if you look at expected growth and the annual salary there’s a clear winner … nursing. Other jobs might pay more but future demand is a fraction
of what it is for nurses. Thanks to an aging population, in the US
and around the world. Despite the good pay and the high demand, there's one group that has stayed away from nursing: Men. Nursing is still one of the most gender-segregated jobs in the country with one man for every nine women in the field. So, what’s going on here? Why aren’t more men taking these well-paying,
in-demand jobs? With staff shortages plaguing many … … on our way to a nursing crisis … … in hospitals all over … … international shortage. In response to the worldwide nursing shortage scientists have enlisted the help of robots. These machines can lift and move patients take vital signs deliver medication and even make scheduling and assignment decisions.

Nao robot: I recommend placing a new patient
in triage bed T5 but contrary to the doomsday headlines there's little chance these machines will replace human nurses anytime soon. In 2013, researchers at Oxford University developed this scale. It measures how vulnerable certain jobs are to automation. The jobs where humans are least likely to be replaced by robots require either creativity,
expert perception and manipulation, or high degrees of social intelligence.

Predictions are much worse for jobs where these skills are less important. Of the 700+ jobs in the Oxford study, nursing was one of the least vulnerable. With a less than 1% chance of becoming automated in the
next decade or two. And when you watch nurses in action, it's easy to see why. The ability to build trust … to connect … it's what makes nursing immune from automation. And for decades, it’s also what’s kept
men out of the profession. Bill Lecher: Every time that there's a joke about a man that's a nurse … "Remember, we talked about him?" (laughter) "So, nurse not a doctor huh?" "Kinda girly, isn’t it?”
(laughter) It still cuts a small little cut. It still hurts a little bit. You always feel it. Scheltens: This idea, that nursing is a “woman's job” it can be traced back to the 1850s. To an English nurse named Florence Nightingale.

She cared for sick and injured soldiers during
the Crimean War. When she arrived at the hospital Nightingale was disgusted by the squalid conditions. Though she faced resistance from the male physicians, she imposed strict sanitation and dietary guidelines. And under her watch, fewer patients died of
preventable diseases. After the war, her methods were taught in new nursing schools that opened up
all over the world. At the same time that women were being told
their place was in the home nursing gave them the chance to develop an
identity outside of it. But Nightingale was no feminist. She saw nursing as a natural extension of
what it meant to be a woman. According to Nightingale, women had a
natural capacity for caring. Men did not. They couldn’t attend Nightingale’s nursing
schools, which blocked them from the profession. But the thing is, before Nightingale’s reforms men had a long history as nurses.

Monks cared for the poor and sick across Europe for centuries starting in the Middle Ages. Men served as nurses during the American Civil War. This includes the poet Walt Whitman who described the experience in his poem
"The Wound Dresser." (male voice reading) Fifty years after Whitman wrote this poem the Army Nurse Corps was made up entirely of women. By the time men were legally allowed to rejoin the profession in the 1950s nursing had become synonymous with femininity. A link that was reinforced through advertising, mass media, and popular culture. And which in turn affected how we raised our children. They absorbed the idea that men and women were born with certain personality traits which made them better-suited to certain jobs. And while these traits were thought to be innate we now know that they’re largely a
product of our environment.

Marci Cottingham: Boys and girls are socialized
differently, especially when it comes to emotions. And the emotions that they're allowed to express. Boys who are even in the infant age who cry are more likely to be shushed or told not to cry. Scheltens: Mothers are more likely to smile at their
infant daughters than their sons … and they use fewer emotion words around preschool
aged boys than girls. Cottingham: Boys are socialized to
stoically manage those emotions so as not to appear effeminate or de-masculinized. The biggest threat you can pose
to a boy in terms of masculinity is to call him a girl, or call him a pussy or a wuss, right? Scheltens: So a job that requires making an emotional connection, that requires expressing empathy – a job like nursing – there’s this assumption that men can’t do it because they lack these inborn “feminine” traits. Lecher: As a parent I was always pretty
involved with my children so when her teacher introduced me as, “This is Mr.

Lecher, this
is Katie’s dad, and he’s a nurse and works at Children’s Hospital here in Cincinnati. And I was surprised by the response. Young children, five years old, said,
“Well you can’t be a nurse. because you're not Katie’s mom.” What kind of messages do you remember getting as a kid about nursing? And who becomes a nurse? Chunn: Like the little white hats? And the skirt I think that as a child you'd always have this kind of like feeling that nurses were nurturing and people don't think men can be that way. You just have to tackle some of those preconceptions like "He's a man so he can't be gentle." or "he can't be nurturing." Josiah Shoon: I feel like it’s the
twenty-first effing century, How is this conversation still happening? Tim Malinowski: “Oh you must be my doctor."
And they start asking me questions. Sammy Davis LPN: "Why didn't you become a doctor or anything?" Jason Rozinka: "Did you fail med school, is that why you're a nurse?" Scheltens: It's not just nursing.

Genetic counselors, physical therapists,
and physician assistants also have large gender imbalances despite their higher than average salaries and major projected demand. Meanwhile, the economy is shedding the kinds of jobs that have stereotypically been associated with men, like manufacturing. And that's reflected in this statistic: The labor force participation rate: that's the share of men in the US who are either working or looking for work. And it's been falling pretty steadily since 1954. Our long-held beliefs about gender are clashing with a new economic reality, one in which emotional intelligence is vital. In recent years, there's been a bunch of ad campaigns aimed at bringing more men into nursing.

When sociologist Marci Cottingham
looked at these ads, she noticed that a lot of them relied on the same gender stereotypes that kept men out of nursing. Cottingham: Extreme stoicism, masking emotion, emphasis on athleticism. Looking rather stern. Looking past the camera so they're not
making direct eye contact Tattoos, motorcycles, don't really
have a lot to do with what's required of you as a nurse. If we use these stereotypical
images we might attract the wrong type of men into nursing. This idea that, "I can still be a macho tough guy, I don't need to deal with all that nurturing
empathy stuff." And so I think there's really a question here of who's going to change? Is it going to be the nursing profession,
to try to attract more men, or should we expect men to change? Guy Beck: I think it takes a while to solve that identity crisis.

How can I be a man, a nurse, and still maintain my manliness? But now I sort of have this view that caring is probably the most masculine thing a guy can do. Scheltens: Caring, empathy,
and trust are humans' strategic advantages over robots. And those skills don't belong to one gender. They're like a muscle. The more we build that muscle, The better prepared we’ll be for
whatever the future holds..

Today we'll talk about your dreams that you have seen Or dreams that your parents seen for you.
Can a Job fulfill all of your dreams or not ? And at the end of this video there is something special for those who can't leave their job I hope at the end of this video you'll get a proper solution Myself Nishant & you're watching Indian Guardian I help my viewers by providing solutions of their problems And I also give free legal advice on this channel So, if you are new on my channel consider subscribing. To find out a solution we first must fully aware About the question !! Because we can find solution for it needs So, first question is a basic question Question is "WHY WE NEED TO DO A JOB OR BUSINESS?" We all have few dreams Some want a good car or a good bike Few wants a big house So, we need job o business to fulfill all of our dreams Question No. 2 When we are young our dreams are very huge. But as we grow old dreams got smaller. Why is it so ? Our dream's circle is this Large !! But our income circle is this !! We all know very well that 80 to 90% people are job-class & salaried persons They instead of increasing the income circle They concentrate on making this Dream's Circle smaller, So, that it can easily fit into income They also know that It is very difficult in job to increase the income capacity Actually what happens, when we see a shortcut We get habitual to that shortcut And we use it regularly for going to office or home Similarly we need funds to fulfill our dreams What we need ? A Financial resource So, where do we get it ? People similarly have seen a shortcut names JOBS !! Jobs didn't take time as compared to Business At the end of the month you'll get a income a salary But ! These are jobs are like those shortcuts Which we use in daily life In jobs we get security but It stops our growth Where growth stops, income stops Where income stops, dreams stop So, at the end we have Only one option i.e., to make our dreams smaller But there are few who didn't accepted that reality They make their own way Many big names Ambani, Tata, Henry Ford, Richard Mcdonald These people instead to making dream circle small Increased this income circle that huge In which all of their dreams came true Agreed there is a risk on this way Agreed it takes time on this way Also agreed that it takes a lot of hard work on this way But there is not limit of growth & possibilities on this way !!! Few people have a stringent financial condition.

Thus they can't leave job What they do ? There is a simple way That if you are doing job The more you work the more you get Paid If you do overtime You'll get paid for it But for whom you are doing all this work For company !! Company is making all the profit But few people will say We are getting paid for it i.e., Salalry Tell me one thing What you are giving in exchange for that income ? It is an agreement in which you give your TIME to the company And company gives you income From my view this deal is not worth it because You time is very precious Your time is more valuable than your small income Because if you invest your time.

So, in future it will yield amazing results. That you can't imagine yet Question again came "WHAT WE HAVE TO DO?" You only have to do one thing that after coming home from office After giving time to your family & after dinner In free time You have to do overtime Not for company But for yourself So, it have 2 ways 1st solution is to do a part time Business I'm not talking about traditional business because it involves a lot of investment Today a business is called network marketing is getting famous But sometimes people got stuck in Network Marketing & can't grow For that I'll make a video in future You can do Network Marketing. But if you are not interested in that You can also do online sale purchase Today there are many online platforms which provide you a good income You can do that in part time But gentleman keep in mind that We're talking about part time business not about part time job Because if by chance you thought to do a job part time And you was thinking to overcome the pressure of that job But the pressure of job will multiply by 2 And you'll struck their more But there are also few people who can't do business Any business What they have to do ! Work on your skills Focus on your personality Like if you are in marketing Then you have to work on your communication skills Or if you are in accounts department Or any other computer related work You have to focus on your typing skills Indirectly we have to work on our personality & skills And also on our knowledge Because if in future your job is not available for you Then you are capable enough to do your own work Or can opt for a new & better job You'll get a new job Which is better than your previous job I'm saying it must be a better job than previous one Don't opt for a job in which your salary is low as compared to previous one Because remember one thing in life that we have to promote in life not demote

The reason why we are here is that the University of Bologna recently with its new strategy Alma2021 has decided to invest a lot in everything related to innovation and entrepreneurship so university has two main objectives That are The first education, the second is research The third is what is called the “third mission” that is the improvement of the local economic system and the university does this through activities such as StartUp Day which was created 5 years ago and through the activities of Almacube since last year Almacube collaborates with StartUp Day In fact Almacube in this year has enlarged its activities How many of you know Almacube?

How many of you know what is an incubator of startup? ok We can say that Almacube was born about twenty years ago and it has always worked with spinoffs so those projects that are created in the research laboratories of the university and that want to become real companies The incubator has been expanded since last year offering a service to even all the other entrepreneurial projects So those which need less research And so the Business Unit startup was born together with another business unit more focused on offering services to most mature companies I work in the Startup Business Unit its main activity is working at the incubation program the Call for Ideas for this program is StartUp Day So for those who will arrive at startup day will enter in the incubation program and will have all the incubator’s services such as mentoring, meetings for business development, rooms, financing and other services that will help young entrepreneurs to move the first steps.

In particular, what is my job in Almacube? I help the new young entrepreneurs through weekly meetings to clarify their goals help them in solving their problems and after about 150 meetings I have noticed that the majority of problems are the same So today I will talk on the basis of my experience in these last years, hoping to help you avoiding some usual initial problems and that would make you lose a lot of time As you can see I divided this meeting into three parts Two main parts, the first to understand why we are talking about startup and the second part to talk about real examples Then at the end there will be time for a Q&A session but feel free to stop me whenever you have questions or doubts First of all, why we are here Three main reasons firstly, because with respect to twenty-five or thirty years ago the world is completely different today each of us with few money and few time can start running a business for example can sell on eBay from tomorrow what he or she produces or he can start creating a fan base on YouTube in order to sell later its products This was not possible before internet and even because of the laws and bureaucracy it was really difficult and for few people So, since it was an activity for just 1% or 2% of population university did not teach entrepreneurship there was no need to do that Thanks to internet we can with few money and time start our company but most important, internet gives us the possibility to access to a lot of information that before we could not have At the same time we can work with people who are far away from us, ask them what they think about our idea, ask them for advice This was impossible too.

Moreover, the most important thing Internet opens a period of exponential change thanks to internet a new industry was born for example the e-commerce or social networking, IoT which in turn create new industries the more they are created, the more they create And this continuous change and this continuous dynamism they make sense to create startups in 2018 and in the next few years or maybe it will became the best way to create a business So start new businesses quickly and in an efficient way, later we will talk about this and later we well see in particular what is a startup Second reason why we are here today It is the fact that a startup is not as maybe people can think, a little version of a bigger company, they are completely different A big company knows very well its customers knows very well the legal problems, the laws it knows its markets It has employees and it knows how to sell its products A startup at the beginning has only the idea but it has no idea of how to develop it practically in the real world There are two definitions of startup that I really like The first one of Paul Graham, the founder of Y Combinator Go and have a look at what is Y Combinator It is the centre of the startup world It is in the Silicon Valley Paul Graham says that a startup is a company designed to grow fast This is the first definition.

Search here for jobs. Enter your chosen occupation and where you want to work.

The second one it does not change so much but it is the way to achieve to create a company that grows really fast It is from Steve Blank He says that the startup is a temporary organization whose objective is to look for a business model that can be profitable and scalable For what concern the first definition In order to create a startup able to grow really fast we need two things The first: a potential market really big and secondly, have potentially the possibilities to serve all the markets. Let me explain For example a barber, an electrician or a restaurant, they have a potential very big market However, they do not have the potentiality to serve all the market Potentially everybody in the world eat, but if I have my restaurant in Bologna I cannot offer the service to everybody in the world It is different instead if I have a franchising like McDonald I am able to structure it in order that it grows faster and then maybe I will be able to serve all the market Many believe that if I create softwares or apps it is the same thing of creating a startup It is not true Because if for example I create a software to teach Tibetan I will offer a service to few people So in this way I can potentially reach all the interested people everywhere they live but I will have a very little and limited potential market so I will have problems in growing fast it will not be easy it won’t be convenient.

Instead, famous companies such as Google or Gopro and PayPal They have all the features to be considered startups. Now they are not startups anymore but in the past they have been startups They had a very big potential market when I say “potential” it does not mean that it has to be used from everybody now When Google started, few people used Internet its market was really limited but potentialli Internet would become an instrument used by a lot of people Gopro as well it has understood that in order to grow faster it should sell in a new way and so it started selling online and using communicative channels such as youtube and so it was able to grow really fast. PayPal has the same story they started from few people and then they expanded to everybody who is interested in buying online and has an email Disclaim as I had already said It is not necessary to have a very large market now because if it is already very big, probably there will be already many companies that are already working there This does not mean that you do not have to try but it is better to start from a smaller market that would potentially grow in the next years So, we have seen the first definition now the second definition that is only the way to achieve the status of company that grows really fast presents three or four key words 1.

Temporary organization 2. search 3. business model 4. scalable So let’s see why he talks about temporary organization the main goal of a startup is not to remain a startup potentially, if we are working well we want to become a mature company as for example Google nowadays A startup is characterized by a growth curve at a certain point it is very high in fact it grows really fast for a certain time then the growth becomes less extreme because we are filling the market so it is temporary and not our final goal The second word is research so a team of people with the aim of researching a business model that can be profitable and scalable this is the most important part to understand why a startup differs from a mature company as I said before let’s think about a company of our local territory such as Ima To whom does not know this company it is one of the top company in the world for packaging machines and it is from Bologna This company knows well its business so if it wants to launch a new product it won’t have any problems it knows its customers, its profits, its costs of production and so on the way in which it acts it is the classical one used by all the biggest firms Instead startups start from question marks they don’t know who can be their potential customer they don’t know what problem they want to solve practically they don’t know how much this will cost to them what could be the legal aspects to face they don’t know how to reach customers, what channels use and the main goal of the research team is to transform these question marks in practical actions and in knowledge and here please take attention this kind of work is really similar to that done by researchers and not so much to the work done by a mature company So by testing our ideas and by learning from our failures little by little we will improve and change our idea in order to adapt it to the market and to reach what people want.

And we will see it when people will use our products and will come to ask for more Third thing: profitable business model what is a business model this is the image of the business model canvas it is usually used to talk about business model Do you already know it? It is also inside the application for StartUp Day The business model is the description of the functioning of our business so what is our offer to the market what is the problem I want to solve what is my competitive advantage what are the costs, the customers what are my profits, my partnerships it becomes profitable when for each cost I have to face, at the end I have bigger profits Finally, scalable it is quite difficult to define this concept in the classical economy, a scalable business is that one that the more I do the more I will get in the end in this case I don’t have any frictionless growth For example I have a barber shop I will have more problems in growing than a digital company such as Amazon or Google Because in order to offer my service to more customers I would need to open a new shop that would cost me much more it is important to understand how to have a profitable growth of our business Briefly, this is the Startup Lifecycle the typical life of a startup from zero to success At the beginning we have the idea so we have identified a problem we have understood what could be the possible solution to this problem and we think that we could earn money by solving this problem to people We easily test our idea without years of research and development so for example by using questionnaires or surveys or by presenting our idea to companies in order to listen to their feedbacks and in the meantime I start improving my project I keep on testing my idea until someone tells me “ok let’s do it”, maybe someone asks for a pre-order So I see that I have understood what could be the solution to the problem So now I start producing a first solution that can be practically and concretely used I give people the solution to their problems then even now I will learn more things for example the design is not so good maybe I have to improve my communication and I need to learn how to communicate my product I will need to understand who are the best partners After some failures and improvements I will arrive to the so called “traction” and from here the growth will start because at that point I will have a scalable business model a scalable, profitable and repeatable business model and then I will go and ask for money to investors and I will start growing Now, the most important and difficult part is arriving at this point When you understand how to reach that point, it is not difficult to collect money and grow the majority of startups fails before What is in your opinion the percentage of startups that fail? For what concerns the first phase in order to give you some key technical words, usually a startup or a new entrepreneur goes to an incubator and this is the incubator work it gives you training, space, network in order to test you idea and move the first steps into the market few funds to create the prototypes and do the first models After this first phase, the startup goes to an accelerator it is similar to the incubator but its objective is to take your startup at that point in which the growth rate changes rapidly When it will be time to “scale” it is important to go to the “ventures capital” whose job is investing in startups these are risky operations in which they invest in for example 100 projects and about 20 will go quite well about 10 will make good results and only 1 of 100 will give me back all the money I invested in all the others that failed To sum up: why are we here First of all because we are in a new industrial revolution in which the socio-economic system is completely different from that one of the past Second reason, because startup is a total different concept from that one of big and mature companies so this is why when a startup is successfull and the phase of the exponential growth is ended Very often the company hires someone good in launching a firm in the stock exchange in order to try to expand globally they are two worlds totally different with two totally different strategies But there is also a third reason that is summarized in this quote by Clayton Christensen He is very important for the literature about innovation and entrepreneurship He says that the only reason why startups have a possibility to success is that in reality, the successful startups start all from a very little market usually less than 1% It is so small that big companies are not interested in it Think about Apple at the beginning people who needed a personal computer were few and they were all in the Silicon Valley, and they started from there one of the two founders had already understood that the personal computer would become essential for many more people in the next years, so the concept of potential market we have discussed before Maybe in the next fifteen years many jobs will be substitute by artificial intelligence, or other completely new jobs will be created and needed So this is the third reason for today’s meeting and why it makes sense to talk about startups nowadays it will be a central topic in our world We can start with the second part of the meeting Real examples Zappos It is a sort of Amazon, an e-commerce that at the beginning sold only shoes then it was bought by Amazon why it is a good example of which is the best approach in creating a startup they have optimized the time time is the most important variable when we are dealing with a startup In the 1999 the founder had the idea of selling shoes on the web Few people were using Internet Very few were buying through Internet He wanted to avoid risky operations so he just made a test he created a website and he went in local shops next to his house and took pictures of the shoes put the photos in his website, proposed a price and look for customers when people chose the pair of shoes he went to the shops to buy them and he sent them to the customers.

The process took about one week or two the time to process the orders was less than having a warehouse, looking for suppliers and so on In few months he understood how its project worked He understood what customers wanted and how to run the business properly and how to transform his idea into a concrete business “Get out of the building”, Steve Blak’s mantra is summed up in this example Do not hesitate too much Just test your idea Ask people what they want, if they think it can be useful and try to understand customers’ needs Another example: Amazon Its founders had a great capacity of vision but also pragmatism and focus on most important things and this means testing the problem and most important test the solution for that problem quickly The founder of Amazon wanted to have an e-commerce that would be able to sell everything This was the main idea and starting from this point was quite difficult it took years much money So he decided to start from just one thing, but done properly He chose books Because he noticed that a book was a sort of standard product with customers interested in an e-commerce of books because for example they lived far away from libraries and book shops So he went to them and asked them if they wanted to try the service he offered So he started from a very small point and nowadays Amazon is what we know This is one difficult concept to learn because it is the opposite that is taught to entrepreneurs so starting from one little point to develop the project But doing the opposite won’t take you to success but to failure.

I always see this fact in my job it is very difficult These two things: target and focus are really important PayPal Now they sell to everybody and this is what they tried to do at the beginning this was the first product they have imagined to guarantee long-distance payments without using bank transfers They though to give people this product to do payments It does not work. Or the problem was not perceived as a problem by people Or they failed in finding people interested in their solution Until they focused on ebay sellers (ebay was a very small market at that time) they did not start growing They did not select the right target at the beginning Then they managed From ebay sellers they reached also the buyers An Italian example “Friendz” None of you knows it It is an app that allows you to earn money by using your selfie So for example I take a selfie after I have found out in the app which are the advertising campaigns of the customers of Friendz, such as CocaCola or other brands I take a selfie for example with a CocaCola in my hands and based on the interactions followers and likes I earn money The app was born two years ago in Rome now it has about 20,000 users it has collected more than 18$million this year It is going really well The two founders were 25, they took part in an incubation program they invented this app and before this they created a Facebook group to test their idea the other possibility was costly so find a group of researchers, build a prototype find customers and then I start all the process But they chose the way that allowed them to optimize time and money With the Facebook group they started from their friends then with the friends of their friends and so on then they invented a campaign and told their customers that they would give them 1euro in amazon card for each picture published At the beginning it doesn’t work so they changed communication strategy They understood the need of the users they have two different kinds of users the user and the customer who pays after some failures and improvements they managed their users started accepting euros in amazon card for posting pictures promoting brands Then they tried to understand the side of the customers So for example CocaCola, would want to collaborate with them? CocalCola would want to publish pictures of unknowns? Since they didn’t know, they went to ask They presented their idea to different companies Many companies rejected their idea so they tried to find another solution this is typical of the job as entrepreneur, your ideas will be rejected many times but every problem has its solution In this case the solution was a check of each picture a check done by at least ten people before being published at this moment they don’t have any software so they modified their communication strategy and their solution they started again the presentations to the companies and after many meetings they found a company that told them yes, let’s collaborate this company invested in their project it bought their first campaign with this certificate they went to an investor that invested 60,000 euros on their project with which they developed the first platform This is an example of how is it possible to create something with few money but with a lot of passion and desire Here, it is important to say that on average at least twenty times you will need to reshape your idea in order to arrive to create something that makes sense in the business world the most important thing is the frequency with which we interact because if it takes us for example twenty days to solve a problem and test again the idea it will take us on average 400 days If we need to reshape the idea ten times, it will take us 200 days This is just to say that there is a lot of difference in taking six months or three years because three years will mean failure Six months is better, you have time to focus on the main point quickly and without any fears even if our idea is not complete and perfect Success is in the speed, the iteration with which we learn things about our project (Question of a student) (The founders of Friendz didn’t have fear that someone could steal their idea?) This is a frequently asked topic How many of you has this fear? this is a very normal thing but it is difficult to find someone that decides to steal your idea and create a startup with that project it is a very small probability If it happens, on the one hand it is good because it means it is a good idea if it is a big company that you fear it is valid what we said before big companies don’t care of little niche of people usually big companies don’t care about little targets other two reasons for which you should not have this fear when you do something new having other firms that do the same thing is useful for you and it helps you in finding new solutions to problems with new instruments and in an innovative way For instance Apple wasn’t the only company producing computers but the fact that there were other companies had helped the development of Apple itself Moreover, in a potential big market, there will be place for your project and for competitors as well The most important thing is the value you can perceive from talking about your idea it is more probable that you find a new partner, a new co-worker than someone who wants to steal your idea So an impartial advice talk to everybody about your idea without any fears if you have something that can be patentable you can talk about it but before ask to sign a non disclosure agreement Talk about it!

Hello, everybody, it is Andy, back for a different week to help you build a career you like. Today we’ll speak about 10 steps to win any job interview when you’re altering careers. I know how tough that is, I get this query essentially every week during my are living place of business hours.

Search here for jobs. Enter your chosen occupation and where you want to work.

In case your motives are form of flimsy, they’re going to be worried they usually’re no longer going to wish to rent you.
